The Hand Center Welcomes Dr. Nicholas Vedder as our Visiting Professor!

The Hand and Upper Extremity Center of San Antonio

Dr. Nicholas Vedder from the University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Washington recently visited the Hand Center of San Antonio as our 2016 Visiting Professor!  As Visiting Professor, he delivered several talks about the principles of upper extremity reconstruction and maximizing function after traumatic injuries.  Audience members included hand surgeons, hand surgery fellows and orthopaedic surgery residents from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center of San Antonio.

Dr. Vedder is currently the Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at the University of Washington, where he is actively engaged in teaching medical students, residents and hand surgery fellows.  He has served as President of the Plastic Surgery Foundation, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association for Hand Surgery and has served as Chair of the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

He is the consummate teacher and mentor, and our fellows and attendings are proud to count him among other great visiting professors, such as Graham Lister, Peter Stern and Daniel Riordan.
