Congrats to Becky Hammon and the Spurs - Summer League Champions!
A BIG Hand Center “Thumb’s up!” to Becky Hammon in leading the San Antonio Spurs Summer League team through 7 hard fought games, ultimately becoming the 2015 Samsung NBA Summer League Champions! The Spurs ended up with a 6-1 record with 6 games won in a row, culminating in winning the championship game. Becky has the whole NBA buzzing with the solid work she has put in this summer.
Becky recently sat down and had lunch with the Hand Center’s current group of hand surgery fellows to talk about life and success in their chosen professions. We are very proud of our current fellows, who will be completing their surgical training next week. This is a big deal as this represents the culmination of many years of education and training.

“I just think it’s important for society that women be rewarded for their brains just as much as any guy… You want to make sure when your wife or your daughter goes in for a job interview, she gets the same opportunity as a guy gets. That’s the bigger picture. Whether it’s basketball, or in the army, or in CEO’s or in operating rooms – we want women there. I think statistics will tell you it does pay off to have a woman in the mix.”
